Irrigation Load Control

South Central PPD was one of the first utilities in the United States to offer load management to its irrigation customers, offering “off-peak” service in 1968. Today, nearly 600 irrigators, representing over 40,000 HP, participate in South Central’s load management program. Irrigators can cut their energy costs by 20 to 30 percent when participating in load management of their irrigation systems.

Daily Status of Irrigation Load Control

During the summer, the daily status of Irrigation Load Control for South Central PPD established by NPPD is available for your reference and work management uses.

Operating Costs of Electric Grain Aeration & Farm Motors

To estimate the cost of electricity used by single phase motors operating aeration fans or other equipment, estimate the hours of operation and apply the following formula:

         Motor input watts x hrs. of use/mo. ÷1,000 = kWh/mo. X 7¢ = cost/month
