How to Order Electric Service
To set up your account for electrical service, call 1-800-557-5254 or visit one of our office locations:
Services are energized as soon as practical during working hours. Billing Electrical service bills are mailed on or about the 14th of each month. Payment is due upon receipt of the bill. Your bill is “Past Due” after the 24th of the month. If payment has not been received by the 5th of the next month, a disconnect notice will be sent to the customer. If payment has not been received or arrangements for payment made by the 15th of the next month, the account is subject to disconnection. Service Fees To insure continued reliable electric service from South Central Public Power, the following is a list of our service fees: Service Deposit - A service deposit may be required
depending upon the type of service and circumstances. Minimum Charge - A minimum charge (monthly or annually) will be charged depending on the type of service and the size of the transformer required. Late charge Fees - Your bill is considered “Past Due” after the 24th of the month. Interest and a late fee of $7 will be charged for those bills still “Past Due” after the 5th of the next month. Administrative Fee - For those customers that request an extension or other payment arrangements past the 15th, a $10 administrative fee will be assessed. Collection Fee - If payment is not received or arrangements made for payment by the 15th of the next month, the account is subject to a collection fee of $20. Reconnection Fee - If the customer is disconnected, the service will not be reconnected at this location or any other location until full settlement is made, including a reconnection fee and a possible service deposit. Insufficient Funds - If an insufficient funds check has been returned from a bank, a fee of $30 will be assessed. Area Lighting Program South Central PPD offers a dusk to dawn area light rental program to its customers. Call our office at 1-800-557-5254 for program details. Youth Energy Camp
This camp offers educational and recreational experiences, leadership training, environmental awareness, character building and social interaction to its campers. Through workshops and guest speakers, campers learn about energy generation, electric safety and careers in the rural electric program. A highlight of each camp is the tour of NPPD’s Gerald Gentleman Power Station near North Platte and the Kingsley Hydro-Electric Generating Station at Lake McConaughy near Ogallala. There is also a camp competition to select three Ambassadors from the camp to attend the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Youth Tour in Washington, DC the following June. If your home is served by South Central Public Power District and you are in the 9th, 10th or 11th grade of high school, contact South Central Public Power District at 402-225-2351 or 800-557-5254 to obtain an application form for the Youth Energy Camp. If accepted to this all-expense paid camp, be prepared for an “electrifying” experience.
