How to Read Your Electric Meter

South Central Public Power customers live over a widely scattered area. It is not economically possible for an employee to read each rural meter. To keep operating expenses to a minimum, we ask that each rural customer read their meter the 15th of every month. (Note: South Central Public Power employees do read meters where there is a large concentration of homes.)

Paying Your Electric Bill

Acceptable forms of payment of your electric bill include:

  • Cash
  • Check
  • Money Order
  • Credit Card

Automatic Bank Collection - If you want a hassle free way to pay your bill, automatic bank collection can also be set up to withdraw money from your account to pay your bill. Qualifying customers never have to worry about late charges since the money is withdrawn from your account on the 24th of each month. You will continue to receive a copy of your bill for your records.

Unhonored Check - When an insufficient funds check has been returned from the bank, an insufficient funds fee will be assessed. Payment will be required by cash, money order or cashier’s check and must include the insufficient funds fee. If payment is not received, the service will be disconnected. Only three insufficient funds checks are permitted in one 12 month period before alternative payment forms are required.
